The Udaipur Style File

The first Travel Tale of 2016 for The Style Chair was at Udaipur. Although it was a really short one it did have a huge impact. My travel to Udaipur has brought back not only the boho in me but also the desi in me πŸ˜‰

New found love for kurtis, block prints & jhumkis is here. Actually somewhere in me was this girl who loves to dress Indian too but with my six day week job as a hairstylist, I can’t be wearing Indian clothes can I! Imagine walking into a salon and your hairdresser/ makeup artist wearing a suit *face palm*. Hence…. Nonetheless, I have decided to fulfil my Indian dressing cravings on my day off from the salon.

Every time I travel I not only have a Travel tale but also a fashion story with it too. Believe it or not I actually plan my clothes for a trip atleast a month prior & start mentally putting outfits together. Without further adieu I shall let you have a look at what all I wore (OOTD) my workation in Udaipur.

Airport Spotting

This post isn’t so much about travel as I’ve visited Udaipur earlier also where I literally did the whole city pretty well. Also due to work & living at a palace at the outskirts of the city made it difficult to take out time to see Udaipur. Yet I did make sure to explore Udaipur because with time we yet tend to explore different spots in the same city #wanderlust.

This time’s Udaipur trip had one major highlight that really was a beautiful experience. A friend of mine took me to Shiv Niwas Palace which I myself haven’t heard of & infact its in the City Palace complex itself. This beautiful palace is now a luxury hotel/ resort. Spent a few hours at their lounge which was he most blissful space in the whole of Udaipur amidst royalty. We sat at a spot that was overlooking Lake Pichola, it was absolutely peaceful inside. I had zoned out sitting there just staring at the panoramic views at Udaipur. Because of the sheer silence in the place I was automatically whispering and talking there because the atmosphere was that calming.

On your next visit to Udaipur you must visit Shiv Niwas & even better would be to spend a few nights there, absolutely worth it ❀

So I had primarily gone to Udaipur for a destination wedding as the bride’s makeup artist & hairstylist (which I’ve mentioned before) and I did attend the wedding too. Here are the looks from the Sangeet night & Wedding night. Both of the nights it was actually pretty cold, but its better to layer up in Indian wear than have those heavy clothes sticking to your skin like in the summers (making it a miserable experience).

I did get a chance to shop a little ( would never miss out on shopping rather, come what may!) & made sure to pick up some of the famous bandhani & lahariya prints and also the gota patti work from Udaipur. Have carried back the fabrics to get something fancy made from my designer back here in Pune. Bought a pair of mojris too which would look loely in the summers with its colours and emroidery. From a small yet buzzing Silver shop did manage to buy some oxidised jewellery there as well. If you do go to Udaipur then apart from the Touristy shopping areas around the City Palace do visit Haathipol (that’s where I picked up most of the mojris, fabric & gota patti material from)

  1. Love the tagline!!! πŸ™‚ Guess that’s why your style of bridal makeup is natural and the bride looks so sweet ❀
Its sometimes so hard to decide on a look for some random event, bridal makeup must be very tough na. I guess the bride is not fond of excessive makeup. Its just so hard to decide whether to look like a doll or look natural. #girlproblems
